I'm going to share my terrible experience at this prison. (I checked and I may be wrong but they apparently deleted mine before that I put with my school account? Anyways) This is even better cause its anonymous. So, I've always been the socially awkward kid. A little bit shy, and either uncomfortable or just plain weird in social situations, so my experience may be different than others. If you're a student here you might be able to guess who I am. I didn't feel like giving one of these big long reviews, but it hit me when my friend said she was sexually molested in class and the teacher did nothing. Anyways, where do I even start? Kids will skip class, and peek into classrooms to mess with the teachers, and they will not say a word because they are used to it. A girl in one of my classes said that she had skipped before and was actually a bit surprised when I said I hadn't. Luckily they now have the weekly "hall sweeps" at random. Kids skipping will hide, and kids going to the bathroom or just late to class will HIDE. There are a few issues that are pretty preventable. The bathrooms. Oh lord, the bathrooms. Urine will leak from the toilets onto the bathroom floor, so you have to watch your step. I'm a girl, and I heard boys take a dump on the floor all the time. Toilet paper and soap are missing constantly, as well as there being a bathrooms with no working sinks. This problem was the most important during flu season. Teachers don't let you use the bathroom. And if you're a girl who not only has a small bladder but gets her period once a month, that is an issue. There's the stupid 10-10 rule: You can't go to the bathroom the first or last 10 minutes of class. What are we supposed to do, go on a water fast? Some (not all, I love some teachers!) teachers are mean, confusing, or just don't do their job at all. Last year in math, we had a project: make a chair out of newspaper and tape. What this had to do with math? I don't know either. Anyways, you could get an 100 if the chair supported your weight, or a 30 if it broke when you sat on it. Not to mention this was a project grade. My math teacher this year just goes on her laptop (not work, personal) and plays Khan Academy videos on the board or gives out worksheets. Also, she claims she taught us stuff that I had never heard in my life. Last year, two teachers actually got into a fight over nothing. Oh yeah, the fights. Kids will step on you if you bend down in the hallway to pick up your stuff after they've pushed and shoved you over, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are fights all the time. They're usually in private so there are no witnesses, but I have seen a few. This year, there was a gang fight with 28 people and one pulled out a knife, so they had to go to court. Also, some kid set a trash can on fire and we had to evacuate for an hour. I have actually witnessed a drug deal in the hallway. There are some minor issues I'd like to address. The nurse is never there, and if she is, she's slacking off. The cafeteria food tastes horrible and is more artificial than McDonald's, so a lot of kids who get school lunch just don't eat it and throw it away. And now, the worst of them all. The bullying. I didn't realize how bad the bullying was until something happened a few weeks ago. I was staying after school, and I went to my locker to get my bookbag. I passed by a notebook on the ground, with words written all over it. I wasn't trying to be nosy, but I looked at it for the heck of it. It read messages such as "F*ggot", "KYS (kill yourself)", and "The KKK was here!" with an evil smiley face. Not to mention someone wrote KKK write outside my math class, and it tookthem 6 months to paint over it. Keep in mind the teacher is black. No wonder so many kids self harm. Or try to hang themselves with hall passes. The counselor doesn't care. You aren't even allowed to see her. I have actually been contemplating suicide ever since I first got here. Sometimes the school atmosphere makes me so overwhelmed I just want to stick a knife in my throat and die.
